Complexity
I was hired by Picture Impact to create a series of header and spot illustrations for the articles they were publishing. I started by looking into Picture Impacts’ mission statement and reading the articles that they had provided. After a series of emails discussing what the clients needs were I got to work!
Featured here are some of the exploratory thumbnail sketches I made for this project. On the left are the images for the Dancing with Complexity illustration. On the right are the thumbnails for the Exploring Complexity illustration.
Once I had the clients approval and choice of illustration I continued to the final sketch stage of the project
The Dancing with Complexity header and spot illustrations went really smoothly. I started by finishing the header illustration and sharing it with the Cilent.
Ones the header illustration had been approved I began to take elements from the header to use as spot illustrations. The client asked that I have one spot with the dancer and that the following spots be more graphic and abstract.
Once those were also approved I moved on to the next illustration.
The Myth-Busting illustration header and spot illustrations took a bit more time. I started by finishing the header illustration and sharing it with the client.
After getting the feedback that they liked the layout but had changed their mind on the color pallet, I worked with the Client to see what color pallet might fit their vision better.
We ended up deciding to do a bright and poppy rainbow color scheme!
Once the new color pallet had been approved I set to work on the spot illustrations. I wanted to create spot illustrations that mirrored both the header image, as well as the spot illustrations I designed for the Dancing With Complexity illustration.
All in all, I am very happy with the way these illustrations turned out. This Client was wonderful to work with and being able to create multiple illustrations at once was a fun challenge.
